smart TV

Having to move my mom into an assisted living facility. Her receiver is part of my plan. They have internet but do not want receivers on their roof. If I get her a smart TV can she stream DirecTV through their internet and on my plan?

Receiver doesn't go on the roof, that would the dish. However, you may not have 2 locations on the same account as that violates Terms of Service.

Some channels have a TV app that you can uses your TV provider's login, but there is no DirecTV app for TVs as it is a satellite service. This would allow her some limited content as it is not intended to get a free TV on the service.

first, I have seven receivers on my place including 2 in an RV. I stream DirecTV on my phone when I am traveling but you are saying I am not allowed to stream on my computer, phone, or TV through my phone because it violates my terms of service?

The DirecTV app is for on a mobile device only. There is no DirecTV app for a TV streaming device (Roku, Apple TV, etc.). The DirecTV app while in use disables video if it recognizes that streaming/casting is being used.

To watch full DirecTV on a TV, you must have it authorized by paying the $7 with it having it's own box or client.

There are some channels that have their own apps which allow streaming to a TV. You would need to install the channel specific app and select DirecTV (if listed) as your TV provider.

Streaming is a secondary perk. It is not a way to add another TV to your service free of charge.

So you can watch streaming on a computer through a browser, but remember there is no user specific access. So if you give your mother your user name and password, she has full access to manage your account online.

I am in no way trying to get free service. She is 91 and I trying to keep from turning her world completely upside down. She likes her DirecTV and would have like to have kept the service for her through a smart TV but based upon your response (and no answer from a DirecTV customer service rep after over 45 minutes on hold) will find a service that she can handle easily...and will probably find a more reasonable alternative to the 7 receivers I currently pay for...

To stream she can watch on a browser on her computer, or use the DirecTV app on a smart phone or tablet. The DirecTV app is not available for TV (be it "smart" TV or way of a external streaming device).

DirecTV is built as TV viewing for one location on the account for a full TV. Not only is their billing model designed to pay for each TV, but your locals, RSNs, and taxes paid are based on the physical service address where the service should be used. This is why DirecTV's Terms of Service and Federal regulations do not allow what you are wanting to do.

So either put specific channel apps onto her TV that use your DirecTV login credentials, or you will need to get her a completely separate service. I am sorry this is not the answer you were hoping for, but it is how it works.

You may want to look into AT&T TV.
