TCM App

I am a paid subscriber to DirectTV and have the TCM channel as part of my subscription. But when I try to search for the TCM app I can’t find it through DirectTV. I can download the app fine using my Apple TV in my bedroom but can’t find it through the DirectTV app search. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

If you don't have a Genie, you cannot use the Gemini with DirecTV. That is because it is a Client, similar to Mini Genies.

Also if it is an HDDVR, do not replace it with a Gemini as would be losing the tuners and recording space to have access to streaming apps. But if you have a Mini Genie on that TV, a Gemini would be something to consider.

Hello. We're happy to hear you're enjoying our services. To better understand your issue, what device are you using to search the TMC through the DIRECTV app search? Also, can you watch the channel on your TV guide? We'll be happy to help you. Edward, DIRECTV Community Specialist.

DirecTV is service by satellite and receives channels.

On a streaming device (Roku, etc.) you search for apps of your choice. You are not searching the app through DirecTV itself. When you log into the TCM (or other available channel apps) it should have you verify your DirecTV credentials.

You don't search for a channel app through DirecTV. So I think you are misunderstanding something.

Yes to correct my original post: I am watching on my Samsung Smart TV which apparently will not allow me to download the Watch TCM app. Here’s what I found on the web:

“WATCH TCM is not available on Samsung Smart TV devices.”

So is there an alternate method for searching and downloading the Watch TCM app, instead of using my Samsung Smart TV?

As mentioned above, get a streaming box like a Roku. Not every app is made for a 'smart' TV. Even if there was one, apps for Samsung 'smart' TVs historically are sub-standard to using a dedicated streaming box.

You might want to check out upgrading to the DirecTV Gemini. All your streaming apps and DirecTV available on one device.
