Weak Internet Speed

I physically moved my Actiontec M1000 modem w/ wireless adapter into the family room where our HD DVR is located and made all the connections. Turned everything on and works fine.

Walked back into the home office (which is physically next door to the family room) and jumped on the computer to check out the internet connections, only to find my internet speed was almost non-existent.

Disconnected modem/router from the DVR and moved it back into the office and now internet speed is no problem.

Is there a workaround to this problem? I'd like to have my router connected to the DVR but if I lose internet speed, it's a moot point.

Any suggestions?
