Why is CNN the default channel for the DirecTV mobile app?
I understand that AT&T is the parent company of Turner Broadcasting System [Per Guidelines: Keep it Relevant and Appropriate].

It’s not the default channel when I launch my app. Perhaps the default is the lowest numbered channel available for streaming?

@sandblaster is correct. The app simply defaults to the lowest channel number in your available channels. Hardly worthy of a "class action anti-trust lawsuit". In fact, the app has behaved this way since well before AT&T acquired Turner.

How would I get a list of "available channels" for me to stream?
The DVR media server is wired. When connecting other streaming channels, I get this same error. I refresh and roughly 15 seconds later I receive the same error.
More often than not, I get this error:
No other devices are streaming and I have reset the main DVR.

Agreed. 202 is the lowest streaming channel available outside of my home network. I may have over reacted with "class action lawsuit". It is entirely possible, though unlikely, that competing networks could sue for skewed ratings impacting advertising rates regardless of the reason that it is streamed automatically first. 😉 - I would hope that in the future the app will have a default streaming channel setting or simply return to the last streamed channel. It looks like this behavior is making other customers unhappy as well, reading through older posts
