Loss of channels
AT&T has failed to properly prepare for the anticipated end of contract negotiation with Nexstar - resulting in the loss of ABC station, a MAJOR network. This continues to happen, as in the past, when other channels were removed from the lineup - as your customers continue to pay increased costs in service. We set up another TV(purchased an antennae) that would give us this basic channel for the interim - assuming we will get the channel back at some time in the future! I think it's time to contact other providers who can provide continuing service that we PAY for and don't get with AT&T.

Yes, this is happening more and more as greedy station owner corporations demand more and more money from service providers like Dish, Comcast and DirecTV. The company "holding you hostage" is the corporation that owns these stations, not DirecTV. Not too long ago these corporations would allow providers to continue delivering their signal while negotiations proceeded. Now they pull their feed so that their viewers will pressure the service providers. I for one am glad that these providers (not just DirecTV) are less willing to simply cave into their demands. After all, these corporations get to use our public airwaves for FREE!!! Why should providers like Dish, Comcast and DirecTV have to pay them anything??? Congress could fix this mess by simply allowing service providers to deliver an out-of-area station.
So find out who owns those stations and tell them to return their feed while negotiations continue. And remind them that they're losing viewers and advertising revenue when they pull their signal.

As of 7/3/19, Kron local channel was removed (San Mateo County). I was about to watch my favorite show, and apparently, I can't watch it tonight. I need refunds from AT&T Uverse. Why I have to pay that canceled by them - I should not pay I did not get service!!! They should deduct before even request!

I think I should get a discount since 2 0f the 8 channels that I pay a lot of money for, have been deleted...ABC and CW...I only have the basic reception pkg. and now I only get 6 channels for almost $42.00 a month. I can not pick up the channels over the air where I live without having some kind of TV service...ABC was my favorite go to channel...I don't think I should have to pay full price for 2 channels I'm not receiving...

Their re-transmission contracts att has with those channels (or their network owner) have expired. Att has no rights to carry them unless the stations allow it until a contract is signed. But most local stations hold their channels hostage to try to extort a higher contract price from the carriers. They know the carrier's users will blame the carrier and never think of blaming the greedy channels. But it's the channels that are fault for trying to get more than they deserve for channels you most likely can get for free over the air with an antenna. These increased contract costs are one of the reason our bills go up every year.

Please read the following terms of service,
AT&T U-VERSE® TV AND AT&T Phone General Terms of Service.
specifically section 8. Interruptions, Limitations, and Modifications to service.
So you do not have the "right" to a credit. On the other hand it never hurts to call CS. They might credit you a few dollars anyhow.
Also odds are you could probably get those channels over the air it you set up an appropriate antenna.

Blame Fox as they are the ones that removed their feed to DTV. Losing signal in light rain means the dish needs to be realigned, there are videos on youtube if you want to DIY or call/chat with DTV for a tech call $99 covered if you have the protection plan.

They are gone because their contract is up and KRON is probably (heh, with KRON, certainly) trying to extort more money than they deserve from att and not letting att to carry it until att gives in. Don't blame att for this. Blame KRON. I hope att never gives into that station (disliked KRON from the days they carried NBC and bumped NBC shows to show their own local programming).
With KRON in your uverse lineup you must be in the bay area. KRON transmits its over the air signal from Sutro Tower. Then the probability is pretty high you can get it for free over the air using an antenna and you don't have to worry about these periodic contract re-negotiations with KRON and most of the other local channels either.

Why am I expected to pay full price when I now have only one local channel out of 4? No longer have fox, nbc or abc, this is ridiculous. I understand they are trying to fight a fee increase but I'm still paying full price for something that's pretty useless to me now considering I watched most programming on abc.

How can you let this happen, I understand your in a negotiation fight with Nexstar but why do we your customers have to lose out, but you need to remember that you charge us plenty for what used to be & should be free TV. I hate to tell you this but it looks like they won & you need to fix this immediately because I'm sure you have many probably millions of customers like myself that want those channels back now, remember your not the only provider, Thank you, BF

You missed the part in the contract that states that the channels and programming are subject to change at anytime. DTV will have to pay them when they renew the contract. If you have an HR44/54 get the LCC by calling chatting with DTV the included flat antenna maybe able to get your locals and add them to the DTV guide.

Why was there no warning message in a ribbon across the bottom of the tv, from either Nextstar or DirecTV, regarding the removal of Nextstar’s stations? The lack of a warning should be worth an additional credit above the token $5 credit.

WOODTV and WOTV are gone! No notice, just gone. I’m on basic and now have even fewer channels for an already ridiculous price. Are you actually fighting to get this back? I’m going to be looking for other service ASAP!

You might want to consider "cord-cutting". You'll have to invest in a streaming source like a Roku or an Apple TV if you don't have a smart TV but once you do, you'd have access to most of the OTA networks.
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.
