Loss of channels
AT&T has failed to properly prepare for the anticipated end of contract negotiation with Nexstar - resulting in the loss of ABC station, a MAJOR network. This continues to happen, as in the past, when other channels were removed from the lineup - as your customers continue to pay increased costs in service. We set up another TV(purchased an antennae) that would give us this basic channel for the interim - assuming we will get the channel back at some time in the future! I think it's time to contact other providers who can provide continuing service that we PAY for and don't get with AT&T.

AT&T and Nexstar represent the absolute worst of American corporate greed, showing a contempt for their supposed client base. They both couldn’t care less about the dumb public who blindly pay their exorbitant monthly charges in the deluded hope of getting what they pay for yet these two despicable “companies” deliberately continue on their greed-fest to pad their bottom line. Customers???!!! Who gives a stuff??

I think this whole thing is ridiculous. It all boils down to more money and AT&T makes enough off of people with our bills. Stop playing games and wanting more ridiculous percentages from these channels.

Do right? I think att is doing an excellent job not giving into the extortion and standing their ground so that in the long run we don't have to pay higher than necessary, or at least not as much as if att gave into the extortion. This may be the first year att has stood their ground for so long. Good for them. Keep it up att.
As for you thinking you deserve money for missing channels. You agreed to the terms of service which state:
So they owe you nothing. But that hasn't stopped individual customers from calling CS and personally asking for credits and sometimes getting them. So you have nothing to lose by trying. But att is not going to do it automatically across the board for the 1000's of users involved. At least I hope not. If they did that would be yet another excuse to raise all our rates even more then what we're going end up paying for the re-transmission agreements. Since I don't care if they black out locals (I have and use an antenna). Why should I have to pay for your "inconvenience compensation" over and above the increase for the channel re-transmission agreements?

Let's say they go ahead and lower rates. Right now, the local broadcast retransmission fees are about $5. They'd lower your bill maybe $1 or so for every local channel lost.
A few months ago, I called in to retentions and they gave me at least $30 off my combined TV, internet and home phone bill for 12 months.

I think AT&T should refund the customers money on all the channels they have lost. It's not the customers fault that AT&T can't negotiate the contract with Nexstar. REFUND our money or give us our channels back!.

I don't understand why CBS is no longer available! Channels continue to drop and yet my bill remains the same! As a loyal customer I should not have to call to request a discount from the company when they are to blame for the removal of the channel! Then they post this website as a solution for " alternative veiwing to the programs on the channel and this is was I get?!?! I didn't want to go to a website in order to NOT see what I was already NOT seeing. Att needs to get it together!

I completely agree - when the door to door sales man came to my home last fall my very first question was if I was to switch, would I still have my local channels and he agreed I would! ABC is my most watched channel in my home!!! Yes, I like the convenience of all of the hundreds of other channels I have as well as my DVR - but honestly only spend about 10% of my time with any of those featured. If ATT/Direct TV cannot get this worked out this week, I will be cancelling my service and going back to Charter.
Being notified would have been a good start at good customer service, ATT!!! Shame on you to allow this to happen over a holiday! And I know you keep wanting to point the finger at someone else - but local news stations are reporting that you are ultimately the culprit not wanting to negotiate or even accept an extension that was offered to you - which I have to tend to believe considering you could not even notify your customers that this was going to happen. Shame on you!

Way to point the blame at Nexstar! Why didn't you accept the extension they offered to keep the channel in the line up for 30 days while you negotiated? I have to agree with @BeeKay47 that if you are not going to hold up to your end of the contract, why should we pay for full service. It's obvious that local stations are extremely important for emergency purposes and your resolution suggests an inexpensive table top antennae so that we can continue to watch ABC. But, you still want me to pay your full changes to have direct tv as well? It sounds to me that Direct TV service just needs to be canceled, save me $100/mo and buy a cheap inexpensive table top antennae. Is that what you truly want all of your customers to day?

I don’t understand why NBC has been removed from my lineup. I want my local station and national news back.
I don’t care if there is a dispute with the provider. I want my service back!

problem. I asked why I should be paying for a service that I am not
getting and you are not paying for either while it is not available.

Nexstar has been negotiating in good faith to establish a mutually agreeable contract with DIRECTV. Significantly, Nexstar has offered DIRECTV the same rates it offered to other large distribution partners with whom it completed successful negotiations with in 2019 to date. While Nexstar believed progress was being made in the negotiations, DIRECTV misled Nexstar as it requested that viewers not be informed about the pending expiration as long as negotiations were continuing to be constructive. Yet, with minutes to go before the prior agreement was to expire, DIRECTV/AT&T did not accept Nexstar’s offer for an extension which would have allowed viewers in the affected markets to view their favorite network shows, special events, sports, local news and other programming on the Fourth of July and until such time as a new agreement can be reached. A little more than a year after putting DIRECTV together with Time Warner, AT&T appears intent on using its new market power to prioritize its own content at the expense of consumers, and insisting on unreasonable and extreme terms that are totally inconsistent with the market. In January, AT&T raised prices on DIRECTV and in April it put through a price increase for its streaming subscription service, DIRECTV NOW.
