-------------------INCLUDED IN EACH POST FOR CLARIFICATION______ While AT&T employees do look at forum posts from time to time, we are here to represent the forum with our experiences as customers and do not represent AT&T in any official capacity with our responses and do so on our own time unpaid and off the clock. As employees we are not rewarded nor compensated to participate in these forums This forum is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them.
*I am a DIRECTV employee, and the postings on this site are my own and don't necessarily represent DIRECTV's position, strategies or opinions.
Same thing has happened to Dish and other cable providers many times. None of them can force the channels to return the feed at reasonable rates. Sometimes negotiations completely quickly, sometimes not. But each of those providers have gone through the same type of situation at multiple points.
People who say it never happens with another provider have their head in the sand. Too many people only see when their channel is off with one provider that it is on with others. But when the channel is off with another provider, but not theirs then they are oblivious and over time think that other providers never have trouble when in fact they go through the same problems.
The only way this will be truly resolved with all providers is if the FCC forces channel owners to allow al-a-carte options, or in the case of local affiliates to allow the TV providers to provide an alternate network feed when one affiliate pulls their feed.
Personally it doesn't matter if you switch or not. I would just like to see what you will do when you come across the next negotiation. Will you continue to blame your new TV provider, will you demand quick resolution regardless of rate increase, will you switch providers again?

So you would see it as good customer service for quickly caving to the local's demands and accepting it as it affects your next price increase?
I prefer TV providers to stand against local affiliate's consistent demand for higher rates each time.

Not NBC itself, but the local affiliate that carries them.
Calling does nothing as those agents are not in the negotiations themselves so have the same information we do. Just check https://tvpromise.att.com/ if you want to see the available status.

I would see it as getting the channels back we had and don't raise the prices at all cuz you already making enough money from us. But of course you'll have some excuse why that won't work. I don't have to worry anyway DirecTV is not my carrier anymore. At least now I get to Pac-12 network. DirecTV is the only cable and satellite provider that does not carry it. Isn't that a little strange. Every other cable provider will provide it besides DirecTV. What does that say about them well it says they don't care for their customers. Good riddance

If business costs go up then at some point they have to raise the bill. Because of ongoing rate increases from the networks, our bill has been rate adjusted once a year for the last few. I don't want them caving to the local's demands quicker as that would just mean that much more on the rate adjustments.
DirecTV and the PAC-12 Network is a long standoff. The channel wants RSN status and get everyone to pay for it even if they have no interest in them. DirecTV has before suggested doing an al-a-carte option for those that want it, but that was declined. The channel doesn't have exclusive rights to all PAC-12 games as many have been sold off to other networks (such as ESPN).
So if the PAC-12 network cannot be lived without, then certainly go to a provider that has it. But for locals, just use the free broadcast and don't give the local more leverage to get that rate increase.

Funny how prices are going down to other cable and satellite providers even though they have Pac-12 network and the local stations. Only DirecTV prices are going up. How do you explain that with everybody else is cheaper. Much better negotiation is what it is and they are there for their customers. Obviously DirecTV doesn't want to do either
As usual you sign a new contract and then things change, first NFL Network and now NBC. They say tv promise, I look for a promise when I sign a contract. Ridiculous that I now have to buy rabbit ears to get the local programming that I had when I signed back up for service. The wealthy just get wealthier.
