Why is the number 5 on the remote different on s30-s1b? Does it have a special function?

I have purchased updated TV's. I can only get the HDMI hookups to work on the DVR box. My other additional boxes don't work with direct plug in. I have cancelled my U-verse but am keeping internet. I want to make sure I am returning all the equipment necessary, i.e.: receivers, power cords and remotes. I will retain the gateway modem, the fiber modem and the wireless connector. Is this correct?
