no one here can resolve the issue. This is just a open community forum of users/subscribers. Still will have to take it up with AT&T.

Many posts say they were scammed by being contacted with a promise of adding channels for free and to pay in advance for xxx amount off. They get the channels added somehow but the scammer took the payment and ran.

This is about the mpeg2 shutdown you'll need a swap to mpeg4 equipment. Call the number listed in the letter it should route to an agent that's trained for the mpeg swap offer. The swap offer is different than an upgrade it has no committment and waives the HD fee. Check the order confirmation to make sure it's setup as a swap and not an upgrade.

That letter sounds like it is referring to equipment needing to be replaced because of the MPEG-2 shutdown they are doing. However that is not their normal customer support number so I would be cautious.
What are the models of each box you have? That will determine if you need to call DirecTV or not.
