Authorized User

I want to add an authorized user to my account and over the phone they said I could do it online.  I have looked all over my account settings online and saw nothing that would give me the option to add someone to my account.  How can I get this done?

I'm not aware of any way to do that online.

You need to call in - and ask more than once.

Not being the brightest bulb in the pack,  I am not sure what you mean by an authorized user?  Anyone that comes into my home is able to use DIRECTV and am not sure what you wish to do?

If anyone considers adding their married son for example so he can have service at a different address, that cannot happen.  Doing a search of "Authorized user" returns just one hit, and it's this thread.

I was wondering if adding a family member was what they had in mind and that could not be done for a son or someone living at a different address,  at least not legally.

I am an authorized user on my parent's account, though I don't live with them.  That just means I can order equipment, change programming, etc for their account.  They added me over the phone.

I also was told by a representative that it could be done online. I cannot find where to do that. If it's not available, they should tell the phone operators.

Sorry, but this seems real strange to me.  If you log in to the website using the screen name and password on the account you can order equipment, pay the bill, etc.  If you call from the folks phone and discuss the system the CSR will assist you.  As far as I can see, there is no reason whatever to add an "Authorized User" to the account.  Notice that the original poster never responded back in 2011.

This isn't strange at all.  If the original poster is like me, then they were trying to add an authorized user for good reason.  I signed up for my account before I was married, and I now want to add my husband as an authorized user.  Right now, if he calls, he cannot ask questions about our service, get information to change our service or anything.  We want to upgrade to the new genie receivers and he is going to take care of it while I'm out of town, but until he is added, they will not speak to him about any of this.  To address the poster above me, these are things you can't really do online when they say genie is only for new customers, etc.  You need to speak to someone.

So, long story short, the phone operators should quit telling people that you can do this online, because I, too, cannot find any place to do it.  I will just call back, and hope I get someone who knows how to do such a simple thing.

Hopefully the OP solved their problem since they posted this nearly 2 years ago.

HOW TO ADD OR DELETE AUTHORIZED USERS FOR AT&T

1) Log into ATT.com
2) Mouse over 'Profile'
3) Select 'Add or Delete Authorized User' from the menu
4) At the bottom of this page there is a section called 'Authorized Users'

5) Add the name and follow the instructions - a confirmation code will need to be sent and validated on the page
