HD DVR with a single line?

Hi Guys,

I've recently purchased a (recently built) town-home that has a splitter in the attic and a single coax line running to each room. Unfortunately due to the way the place is constructed there is no way to run a second line to any of the rooms without punching holes in the drywall. So my question is this... Since this will be a new installation and will not be held back by existing/older directv equipment, is there any way with the newer equipment to have a HD DVR connected using a single line?

Thanks,
Andrew

If it's a new HD installation, you should get the SWM (Single Wire Multiswitch) system. This only requires a single cable to a DVR. The installer will replace the splitter with one that is SWM-compatible.

How many DVRs and receivers are you considering?

That's a sigh of relief! I plan on having one HD DVR (living room) and one HD (master) with the whole-home DVR service.

If the single line to each room is a non-issue then it should be a fairly simple installation.

Thanks,

Andrew

you will also you need another line where your router/modem is located so that the tech can connect that CinemaPlus connection Kit.  this will allow your receiver to connect to the internet so that you can use advanced features like On Demand, DirecTV2PC, DirecTV iPad app, Nomad among others.

Well, it looks like the builders did me a favor then. There's a utility closet where the modem/router and breaker panel are. There's a coax line from there running up to the splitter. I think they mentioned that was there in case I wanted to go with uverse.

Thanks,

Andrew
