Hooking up SWM box to my camper

I am new to directv. I had my new service installed last week at my home.  I have a lakehouse that I would like to use my service at from time to time. In my home I have the 18" slimline dish and swm boxes. At my lakehouse I have an 18" round dish will dual lnb. I am by no means an expert. How can I (or is it possible) to use my HD swm box from my home on my dish at my lakehouse?

Your nomenclature is a bit off.  The dish at home is likely a SWM Slimline (look for that word on the reflector) rather than a 18" Slimline (no such thing).  We'll need to see the model number (press and hold info on the remote) of the receiver you intend taking to the lake.  In any event, the dish at the lake won't supply HD.

You are correct with the SWM Slimline. I will get the model number and get back to you. Thanks for your patience with a rookie and your quick response. Will be in touch.

The receiver I have in my home and would like to use on the 18" round at the lake is a H-25. I am ok with the lake dish not being in HD. I appreciate your help. thank you.

Not possible. The H25 HD Receiver can only be used with SWM dish.

Do you have any recommendations of what I can do? Get a different receiver? Or do I have to buy a new dish and that is the only way I can use my home service receivers?

Options include ....

  1. Get another Receiver.  If you only care about SD reception you can pick up an SD Receiver pretty cheap.  What models are your other Receivers?   Only the H25 cannot be used with non-SWM dishes.
  2. Get a SWM8 switch and Power Inserter to use with your 18" dish.  You would connect the two dish LNB outputs to the first two SAT IN jacks on the SWM8, then connect the SWM8 OUT to the Power Inserter "SWM" jack and the H25 to the Power Inserter "IRD" jack.
