New HD Program Guide
Received new HD guide and was disappointed to find that the Cast and Crew feature has become almost useless. It used to show Dates of Birth and Death of actors as well as place of birth and their filmography for both movies and TV. Now all it shows is what upcoming movie or show they will be in.
Any plans to go back to the previous Cast and Crew format which provided very good info?

I have the same problem. I valued the birth date / death date (if any) and place of birth very highly. If another company has
a dvr that provides this I will change to them. I have friends who have dish and charter dvr's. I will check their receivers out
for this feature.
How directv could eliminate this feature is beyond comprehension. I hope the answer above (wait a few days for info to download) is
correct. If so I'll be much relieved.

They didn't eliminate this feature. It just takes a few days for all the "extra" stuff to download. Patience.

Or you could look that info up on imbd.com, which is a far better database than the one direcTv uses.

I do like it, however, the font on the guide is just a tad small.
This would be my only suggestion.

I like that it moves faster/scrolls thru the channels faster - but big whoop - what I NEED is the parental information detailing the language/sex/violence one can expect in a show.
While I know this was not available in every case for every movie/show etc, it was helpful for those it was. Now I just have to tell my kids NO - they cannot watch it because, I cannot quickly assess the level of language or violence.
Thanks for taking away functionality - WHO cares if the guide is 1080p - WOW - THATS AWESOME.....NOT

I got my guide on the screen and found a movie titled My Bloody Valentine on channel 244.
In the top of the screen, just above the grid it has the title,
just under the title it shows the time to start and end, right next to that it shows TV-14-L-S-V
This is without selecting it as peds did, just put the selector on it
Is that what you are missing ?

They did have a detailed description of the possibly objectionable events in the movie under "More Info", maybe that's what he's looking for.
