New HR24

Last week, due to signal problems, we had a tech come out to look things over.  Our dish needed realigned, as well as some connections replaced.  He also replaced our HD DVR Receiver with a new HR24.  Since having the the new receiver, it auto resets itself every time you turn it on.  You have to wait thru the whole reset process.  Any suggestions?  Are we missing something as far as a setting goes, etc?  Or does this sound like a defective receiver.  Any help will be greatly appreciated!

All DirecTV boxes will go through a reboot if you remove power from them and then apply power again.  But just using the remote to turn the DVR "off" does not in fact remove power, it just puts it in standby.

Do you possibly have the HR24 plugged into a power strip? Some of these automatically remove power from devices when they think they are not running...

Another possibility is that if your HR24 is connected via HDMI the TV on switchon is sending the HR24 a signal it does not like, we have seen this with some Sony TVs and others. What type of TV do you have?

Thank you!  As soon as you mentioned the power strip, I knew what to look for.  We have a power station, which we have all our fans for the entertainment system plugged into.  Every night we turn that power station off.  Well, when the tech install our new dvr, he plugged it into that instead of the power strip he unplugged the old one from.  Thus the lose of power and resetting everyday!  Which also explains why a few of our shows didn't record.  Thanks again for your help!

Glad we could help. It's amazing how often these problems turn out to be something really simple, but most of us look for a complicated solution!!
