No signal, is b band required?

I’m trying to hook up a h22 receiver to a 18 inch dish. I ran satellite setup and changed to multi switch and then changed to 18 in dish, and after I do that it’s not finding the dish and is saying b band required. Could this be why I’m not getting signal. Help please

No, you don't need a B-Band converter to receive SD signals from the 101º satellite.

What exact message are you seeing?

H22 should only need a B-Band Converter (BBC) if it is a non-SWM setup. Which it sounds like your situation.

However, the 18 inch dish is an MPEG-2 (SD-only) dish. DirecTV has been shutting down the MPEG-2 feeds since April 2019. You will need a slimline SWM dish or the Winegard Trav'ler. The H22 is a MPEG-4 box so this does not need replacing.

I'm guessing the box is from home and the dish is an RV or vacation home. The dish and cabling update for the 2nd location will be at your own cost. However, if you have any old MPEG-2 boxes at home, then DirecTV is doing a complimentary MPEG swap (for the service address itself) as is required to continue using the service.

You really need a Slimline SWM Dish to get anything.  Return that dish if you can.

No B-Band Converter.  Just a SWM Power Inserter to power the dish.

What exactly are you trying to set up?  More details would be helpful.
