Are you scheduling a service call as an existing customer or trying to sign up online and schedule a technician to install your DIRECTV service? Thank you for the additional info.
If you want to schedule a service call as an existing customer, you’ll need to call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below).

What do you mean "schedule service"?
Are you looking to be a new customer?
Or are you an existing customer and need some sort of repair, upgrade, or something else?

Many months ago, a technician strung a new line from our dish to the house. He said someone would be back out to bury it in a week or two. No one has been back and no communication. I have found it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get this scheduled via phone. It is always a nightmare calling DirecTV service, so I am hoping there is another way to schedule?

The only way to schedule is to call them. Good luck.

Once a technician leaves they DON'T return without another work order and DirecTV doesn't setup work orders to bury cable

DirecTV will absolutely set up a work order to bury the cable but there may be a charge.

The issue is that burying cable is additional/custom work that if it were to be done, should have been done with the tech who was already there. Them saying another would be out within 2 weeks was flat out a lie to get out of there.
As for a separate service call ($99 on order and then custom work paid to tech), I am not familiar with them making one just to bury cable. Getting the $99 waived as work incomplete is a chance, but not guaranteed. I would at least call DirecTV to submit complaint for incomplete work.
Cannot recall the cost for burying cable (or how much is initially included for something like a pole mount). If someone has a link to the custom installation charges card that would be great as I cannot locate it anymore.

Most likely there is more to it than the tech just wanting to get out of there. When a pole mount is installed state law as well as company policy require utilities be located before the hole is dug. It is a bit different when just burying cable as it is not likely to be buried deep enough to require the locates but the tech's office may still require locates any time cable is buried. In this case the tech should put in the locate request and get a No Charge Truck Roll work order made to return after locates are complete. If the OP does get a work order made they should be prepared for the tech to tell them utilities have to be located first. How this works out may depend on whether the work order goes to an in house tech or contractor. A contractor is not likely to get a NCTR work order made any way because he doesn't get paid for it. He may just bury the cable or find an excuse not to. If it is a long distance he may think it is just not worth it.

@Good4u just what type of work order do you think can be set up to bury cable a service call? Relocation? Neither of those work order types will get cable buried

@nabukl Service work orders are made all the time to bury cable. What issue do you think would prevent it? Just for example, not unusual for a tech to have to replace a cable going to a pole in the winter time when he cannot bury it. The customer calls in the spring to get the cable buried

I think the issue is that many of us have experienced that DirecTV historically doesn't do this. If you've had a different experience with DirecTV, I respect that. If your experience is with another company, just remember DirecTV tends to follow the beat of their own drum.
