I just use the term "record". But I fully understood what you meant by "tape".

With a modern Genie setup you only need one DVR to record stuff, then you can view them on any TV with a Genie Mini Client box.

Well, DirecTV DVRs don't actually "tape" :)

In the old days each TV would need its own DVR, but that's not true today. A Genie DVR on one TV and a Genie Mini Client on the other TV will let you "tape" and view your recordings on either TV.

Just so I will be educated (which I want to be), what term should I use besides "tape" when I want to be able to see one or more future programs to view later?

I truly do not want to sound dense, but with the Bolt and Bolt Mini (which is what I think I will get), will I be able to record with the mini?  Thanks for patience.

Bolt is a Tivo product and has nothing to do with DirecTV. That's a question for the Tivo Community Forum.

DirecTV does not distribute Tivo Bolt products. Are you sure the offer is coming from DirecTV?  More details, please.

Hey @matc34, we want to clarify this for you.

To be able to record DIRECTV programming, it's necessary to use the DIRECTV Satellite compatible equipment.

Learn more about how to record your programs and equipment used to do so on this link

Also, thank you to @litzdog911 for the prompt response and accurate information.

Well, that makes no sense. "Bolt" is a Tivo product. It's not at all compatible with DirecTV satellite equipment. Who/how did DirecTV provide you with this offer???

From the Direct TV Rep who evidently has the account where I live.  I have that offer in an email.  Have just asked him if I can also get the Bolt Mini - waiting for a reply.

Thank you for letting us know, @matc34

We offer our own equipment for DIRECTV service, we have the Genie and Genie 2. The Bolt boxes you're talking about is equipment from a different provider.

Please click here, so you can confirm this information on our official web site.

What sort of "DirecTV rep"?  Did someone come to your door?  At an AT&T Store?  DirecTV does not have direct sales reps.
