Turn off error 771

I get the error code 771 to turn off. I have two satellite dishes and I get the 771 error code everytime it snows or rains heavily. I can't do anything until the weather clears but the 771 error covers the lower half of the screen and the system goes into screen saver mode even though I am watching a channel that is coming in clearly. Is there a way to suppress the error from covering my screen?

I suggest you check all Outside Rg-6 Connections for weather Damage --That will most likely resolve your 771 error --All exposed rg6 connections (771) means can not "talk" to the dish.

What are your DVR/Receiver model numbers?

When did the problem start?

Why do you have two satellite dishes?

Equipment: HR44/500 and 3 mini Genies

When does the problem start: when snow or sleet starts. Sometimes it happens when the rain is heavy.

When does it end: When the sun comes out and melts the snow or ice

What channels are affected: Mostly my international packages

My installation has two antennas..Direct TV installed a smaller second antenna because most the international channels are on another satellite.

It's not usual for snow to affect your satellite reception. But it's possible that your dish alignment could be improved. A service visit can check that for you.

Nope, 771 is most likely a dish alignment problem, there are videos on youtube if you want to try it yourself otherwise you have to call and wait on the phone until a CSR can setup a tech visit.
