Unorthodox Setup: Boxes connect to internet, but connect through network

I have wireless cable internet connection located in the basement. The wireless Ethernet connection is shared to my bedroom receiver (HR24-100) with the use of a DIRECTV HPTurbo Wireless Ethernet Adapter and Surge Protector (HP TURBO).  The main DVR in my living room (HR24-500) is connected to the Ethernet through a share connection/network from a computer which picks a wireless signal.

Both boxes connect to the internet without, but are unable to locate each other on the network.  This prevents the receivers from setting up a whole home DVR network.  Is it possible to manually find the boxes through the manual network setup?  Or any other way to connect the boxes.

Or by connecting my receivers possibly through different methods I am unable to connect them.  I know at one point the boxes were working correctly and were communicating with each other; however this was setup through a different sharing method.

Any help?

The setup you describe was the way everyone used the feature during the Beta period. However, wireless was never successful. If you want an unorthodox system (unsupported by Directv) you'll need to run Cat 5 cables from each location to your DHCP configured router, then have Directv authorize the system. The cost will be $3 per month.

An alternate approved and supported method is to remove the Ethernet connections altogether, install a SWM dish if you don't already have one, and get the system authorized. The HR24's will communicate through the coax signal cable. If you want then connected to the Internet as well, you'd need to install a DECA interface as the schematic shows.

Assuming you have a SWiM installation, the correct way to network the two is to disconnect the Ethernet connections you have now and let them talk to each other via the coax (after a reset). Then install a broadband DECA module to interface your home network and the Internet to the DECA cloud.
