Video Freezing
For over a year I have been experiencing intermittent video freezing. It will freeze for a couple of seconds, then unfreeze.
A tech was out last year, redid all the connections and installed a new lnb. I've called multiple times about the issue and was promised a software patch one time, did not happen? One tech says run diagnostics when it happens. Did, and system checks out fine.
Dilemma: this issue is very annoying and I am considering asking for replacement genie equipment or just move to Dish. What are your thoughts?
Thanks, John

What model receiver/dvr do you have ?
Ours is pretty old and we have similar issues and would like to get the latest model.
But from what i understand is that recorded shows cannot be transfered to the newer receiver.
Seems like this would be easy to accomplish by a technology company like ATT or Directv.

Yes , they had this bug in their software , then fixed it and now like a lot of the bugs (like the delete bug) , made it's way BACK into the current build....
The temp freeze of control , I guess that's just the System catching up , might be different depending on the receiver model, the type of freeze bug I'm getting now must be some process crashing and it takes about 2minutes for it to respond , a really serious amount of time ... but the commands do seem to be cached during the non-responsive time as they all get actioned and processed sequencially all in a row after the system comes back to life ...
This freeze bug came at the same time as the obnoxious "screen saver" AT&T self promotion of PPV titles "feature" which I don't want and can't be turned off , so they added a self promotion feature and then caused a REAL problem to the existing software where now it just freezes randomly for up to 2mnutes before it starts again.
AT&T STOP uploading faulty , broken and untested code to peoples boxes.
This is a service we are PAYING for , do you not get that , we are the customers , NOT the Product , please stop this crazyness....
DirecTV was a great , reliable and solid product offering and had great user interface before AT&T got involved, if you can't do it right, roll back to the software you had 3 years ago , that actually worked and people were happy with it...
nutsville.....

Looking into Dish I've learned they don't offer HBO because of a fee dispute. That's a deal breaker for my wife because of several shows she likes are on HBO...
It's an imperfect world. We are in the country with satellite internet so streaming is not an option. Oh well.
