Problem streaming MAX
We have a Directv account which includes being billed monthly for MAX. I want to stream MAX on both my TV's. On one of our TV's there is no problem. On my other TV, starting a few days ago it says I need to "Connect my provider". It says I need to go the URL Max.Com/providers and enter my code. I enter my code and it says connect your provider. I click on Directv, and then I log into Directv. I get a screen that says Create your account, and I fill in all the requested information. I click on confirm account and it says I need to check my email for a one time code. I get the one time code and enter the one time code as requested. I then get a message that says: "Are you sure? Your account is already connected to a subscription billed through another provider. If you start another subscription through DIRECTV you could be billed twice. If you don't want to start another subscription , select "cancel." I don't want to risk paying for another subscription, so I hit cancel, at which point my computer opens my MAX account, but I still can't watch it on the television. Can anyone help me?

Yes I have always selected directv as my provider but starting November 1, it takes me to a Max new user signup page. Even tried filling that out once but it comes back with a "you already have an account message".

Look up thread. Sign up again and then call Max to remove the oldest account. Outlined here:

I’ve been having this issue for the past month with no success in logging into Max with my TVs. When I signed into direct tv it tried to make me create a max account. For the first time since this error occurred I got it to work.
I went to max.com/signin , typed in the TV code, logged into my Max account and now it works! I don’t know why, but using the direct tv provider link no longer works for my account.

After speaking to Max, the solution is to reset your password, and you may be able to keep your current password. After that, sign in, but do not connect with the provider; use Sign In on the right. Once the Max account is linked to a third-party provider, it doesn’t require linking again. If it doesn’t work the first time, delete the app on the TV, reinstall, sign in, and again do not connect with the provider. All my devices are working.

they are setting up a new entity for DirecTV due to AT&T selling their stake in the company in the fall. this required a transition to a new billing system from what I've gleaned from Max. so the accounts need to be relinked to this.

The issue is not impacting everyone. I and many others have never had an issue with MAX. Exactly what is going on with certain subscribers with MAX has never been defined.

I use different TV Apps on 4 sets. Some are on Amazon Firestick MAX App and others use the TV OS and its MAX App. I finally solved the sign-in issue after multiple attempts. That included a visit to a computer browser to change the password on my MAX account (don't know if that helped...) and then on the TV "SIGN IN" screen choosing the "Sign In to Account" option rather than Connect to Provider" choice (btw - trying DirecTV Stream option definitely did not work here...)
Yes - I am aware that DTV is trying to distance itself from ATT (Good on them!) - but I do not understand how they chose to lay the burden of connecting client accounts on the individual rather than handling it on their end. It's software, after all !

I suspect a lot is going behind the scenes. Relinking accounts to a separated or new billing account system between different entities is likely a bigger endeavor than the general consumer understands. My hope is the issues are less and are fixed quicker than when AT&T acquired DirecTV.

I just started having the same issue. Did you manage to get it fixed? It works fine on our toku and on my phone but my fire cube continues to give me the connect your provider which I do through my mobile max app. I "allow" and it let's me in the app. But won't let me watch anything.
But the other weird thing is when I try to sign in to my directv account I put in my email then my password, which it won't take. So I change my password with the email that was sent, go back to sign in and it tells me I have no account. But yet it sends an email to my account. Everything is screwed up and the amount of money it costs every month, everything should be available.

Now I can't sign in on my phone. I was just watching a movie and now it says I need to sign back in and some issue with captcha and sign in with provider. When I go to sign in with Directv it says that my email is incorrect. This is ridiculous.

The fix is to contact Max support (such as Chat on their website). What they usually end up doing is completely removing the link so you can relink them.
This just happened to me. Fix was rather quick. Just make sure you chose to option to sign in, not where it says (in small print) to create an account.
And they (Max/HBO) confirmed it is a known issue from AT&T separating from all the TV services, but only affects some. So it is a one by one fix, not across the board.

Thank you. I fixed the issue with my tv by switching out the Fire Cube by a Roku Ultra and the max issue was resolved, hopefully permanently. I don't know if the problem was the fire cube but my other roku tv works as well. My phone still has a problem though. There is still the problem with signing into my directv account. It keeps saying I don't have an account but it acknowledges my email.
