Box is not working Red x

I just got a new LG 42PJ350, which is a 720P Plasma HDtv.  Recorded Mad Men and watched it.  Joan looks like a fat hog.  Draper has jowls.  I know it has something to do with the way I have the reciever/tv settings that dont agree.  The TV doesnt have a whole lot of things to set as far as upconvers

I keep getting a red X with a 3 below it. What is the issue and how can I fix it?

Main receiver has stopped displaying TV signal. Goes through reset and upload and the just displays a red X and a 1 beneath it. Is it toast?

Wired receiver shows a red x with an 8 underneath it. Have tried rebooting it multiple times but nothing changes.

on sat 119 i get a red X on both odd and even. under the signal meter sat 119 transponder 22 is at 74%       23 is at 89%              25 is at 96%               28 is at 76%            27 is at 70%            28 is at 72%                29 is at 95%           30 is at 75%     31 is at 85%
