After latest update all channels have a fog to them
Please help. All channels have a matte or hazed finish to them, like a loss of brightness.
This happened after the latest update of slight improvements to the recordings selections and menu highlights.
When I first turned on the d.v.r. there was no audio. A reset of the vip2250 fixed that but the "fog" remains. I did reset the gateway and even went through trouble shooting in the menu without a fix.
I know if I call ATT they'll just replace the dvr and I'll lose everything.
Come on gurus! What do you think? Does anyone else notice this problem? Help, please.

Have you checked the aspect ratio setting?

@macmane32 @mibrnsurg
This is the original thread and it bled over to yours. I will let you know and you me if you would with any resolutions.
As you see above, customer care is aware and looking into it.
By the way for previous viewers I do use the vip2250 hooked via hdmi and the cloudiness is through 720p or 1080i.
Rebooting the gateway or box softly or physically disconnecting the power did not resolve this issue. Unplugging the d.v.r. for 10 seconds then rebooting gave me the picture back for about 20 minutes then the update kicked through I suspect.

@macmane32 @mibrnsurg And others interested:
So apparently ATTs field team found no issues and deemed it a localized problem such as my dvr. I think their just guessing if they even looked into at all. They seem sincere but I am very frustrated.
Now I have to get a new d.v.r. and lose ALL my recordings and this may not even fix the darn problem. Don't know what to do.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

UPDATE TO FOG ISSUE:
ATT came out on Saturday and agreed with and understood my complaint. The signal stregth to and in the house was great. We replaced the d.v.r. with another 2250 unit (not Motorola this time).
Unfortunately the fog remains in darker situations. Very frustrating. The picture is awesome though, unless it's a dark seen.
Unaware of what to do at this point? Another update?
Any suggestions anyone?

You've been talking about the dark crush problem on 2250s on HDMI, so the update has not fixed it. When I had the 2250, I just gave up HDMI for component cables.
Did you get an ARRIS 2250? They bought the Motorola division awhile ago but were shipping the Moto's they got in the deal first. 😉

Yes Chris I got the 2250 arris (built in August btw) and I am currently hooked up hdmi. This should not be an issue I think. Should I go component to eliviate this issue and if so, would this not eliminate the 1080i resolution and drop it to 720p?. Frustrated....

Leave it at the native resolution on your TV (1080p), so 1080i, the TV turns it into a progressive image to show. Mine is at 1080i even on component.
Must be thinking of 1080p (Blue-Ray) that component can not carry, must use HDMI or DVI. 😉

I'll try going to component. Just very frustrating. Did going component solve your issues completely? I've read component doesn't transfer data as quick as hdmi.
Thanks for your time.

Even when black crush was on HDMI on 2250, component was perfect. It works great on component, most people can't even notice the difference when PQ on HDMI/component is working properly.
For me I could always see a slight difference between the 2 on my Panasonic plasma, component was very slightly 'softer' than HDMI.
Don't worry about data rates, Uverse TV works fine on component. 😉

Called ATT and although policy states they can't give a $ adjustment for lost recordings they did however credit me well for "service interruption".
GOOD JOB ATT
