Gateway/Access Point error message on laptop

Gateway/Access Point error message 
I have not changed anything with my settings but I am getting the message "Gateway/Access Point not found or connection error" on a hard wired laptop, this is a random error that has just started since I switched from DIRECTV back  to Uverse again. I previously had Uverse before I got bait and switched to  DIRECTV.
