Recording a program you are watching
I've started watching a program and am part way into it. I want to have it recorded from the beginning. Is this possible, and if so how do I do this? Thank you.

The way I read the OP question is as follows. The MacGyver show started and I wanted to watch the whole episode but tuned in 20 minutes late and want to record the whole show so I turn it on and hit the record button but want the whole show recorded, not just when I hit the record button. This scenario is not possible with Uverse.
OTOH, if I was already tuned into the show and then hit record, yes the rolling buffer would be included in the recording.

Uverse has never been able to reverse time for a channel if you are just tuning into it. If the program you're recording is in their on-demand library, you can watch in that manner.
Also, the app for the channel you are watching may also have the program available for viewing. requires a separate streaming device .

There is a one hour buffer for recording. If you are watching a show and it started less than an hour ago and start recording it will include that earlier part in the recording so long as you haven't changed channels in between (buffer restarts if you change channels). If the show started more than 1 hour ago then obviously it get get back to the start and just includes that previous hour (I assume, never tried that one).

And that is how I parsed his question. He said:
He didn't say he turned into the channel for that show. He said is was watching it and decided to record it. I did mention that changing the channel resets the buffer.
