why does tv go into screensaver mode after a while of inactivity

You have discovered that there IS a screensaver and you can't turn it off....sorry.  WHY does it go into screensaver mode?  No one has been able to answer that one.

 

I can't remember the exact window but I think it kicks in after an hour.

It's "prettier" than the alternative?

Maybe the coders thought they could still "burn in" the display if it never changed?

Something related to getting an energy star rating (maybe a checkbox in some bureaucratic list of qualifications)?

Cause us to create a thread here to allow us to describe/guess where/discuss the locations all those pictures?

Something for the coders to cook up in place of fixing the bugs in the UI? (couldn't resist slipping that one in...again)?

live with it...I HATE that feature though.
