x 3 error uverse

my set top and getway are paired up. I get 1 cog on tv screen and download bar.. then 2 cogs and appears to be downloading,, then   red X with number 3 underneath it.

I have verified with ATT the activated my new vip2500 wireless box and they know it's my 4th box.  all lights show linked,,,   Do I NEED a specific KIND of HDMI cable from the set top to the tv?  I have tried all hdmi outlets, roku works fine.   cannot seem to find the X with 3 underneath it error message to resolve

Red X #3 and #13 (same) Cannot connect to service group database. Not a box issue.

 

This may be a problem with the dvr (in which case try the troubleshooting steps listed here).  But this error is more likely out of your control and a problem with the "back end", i.e., the computer system the dvr "talks" to.  You could wait a while (say every hour) reboot both the gateway and the dvr to see if it the problem eventually clears itself.  And/or call tech support (800-288-2020).
