Directv Cinema Connection

I am looking at getting this service however I have questions that I cannot find answers to.  I have whole home dvr, 3 H24 receivers and 1 HR24 receiver.  Based on what I found online, I need to hook this up wirelessly with the directv kit.  However, which receiver would I need to hook it up to?  I assume the HR24.  Also, if I get this service, would I have access to it from every tv in the house, or just the one that the cinema kit is hooked up to.  Thank you for your answers.

When was your WHDVR equipment installed?  The Cinema Connection Kit should have been provided and installed at that time.

Assuming you have SWM/DECA-based WHDVR setup, the CCK gets installed near your home network gateway/router.  A satellite coax cable connects to the DECA side of the CCK, and an ethernet cable connects to your home network gateway/router.  Wireless networking should be avoided if at all possible.

The beauty of the CCK is that it links the entire DECA/WHDVR network to your home network and internet.  All of your DVRs and Receivers have internet access.

It was installed about 6-7 months ago and as far as I know the CCK was not provided nor installed.  My modem and router sit within 5 ft of my dvr receiver and that is a cable connection, not dsl, needed a fast internet connection.  So a wired connection is best you say?  What is the best route of travel for going about doing this now?  I'd hate to have to pay $75 for them to come out if it can be avoided.  Any advice greatly apprediated.

you best solution would be to call DTV and ask then  to install the wired connection kit.  since you let so many months go by after your install,  you might have to bite the bullet and pay for this.  alternatively you can buy the wireless connection cheaper, but is not recommended since your mode/router is so close to the HDDVR

Biting the bullet and paying for something I was never given the option of getting will not happen. My biggest complaint is all of the possibilities and options that they have are just not explained to you or not offered so that DTV can make that extra money off of you. All in all, if they state I must pay for it, then goodbye direct tv and hello verizon fios.  Customer service is something some companies have and others dont, I guess I will soon find out what kind of service DTV has.

A number of installers have failed to install the specified DECA BB Adapter Cinema Connection Kit for whatever reason.  As of 1/1/2011 the official policy was to include the Kit at no additional cost on all Whole Home orders.  This move was made because so many folks were unaware of it's importance as you describe.

Call Directv and I'd guess they would be reasonable.  One thing against you is the considerable delay in reporting the lack of a connection.  They may offer to ship you a wireless Kit and if it were me I'd try for the hard wired professionally installed unit if they will go for it.  Lately we've seen a number of posts from folks in your situation being shipped the wireless, which works okay but is not equal to the hard wired.
