How to Stream MAX in 4K HDR with DirecTV Satellite HBO MAX Subscription
Has DirecTV negotiated a deal with MAX in order to provide their DirecTV satellite customers with the ability to purchase a premium HBO MAX channel subscription that comes with the MAX ULTIMATE Ad-free monthly subscription that allows them to stream MAX in 4K UHD with Dolby Atmos immersive sound on a streaming device? Currently, DirecTV HBO MAX subscribers only get access to HD streaming on the MAX streaming app. I want to stream MAX programming in 4K UHD with Dolby Atmos sound on my 4K streaming device but also want to access HBO channels (in HD) on my DirecTV satellite receiver. The only way to do this is by buying both a DirecTV HBO monthly subscription ($14.99/month) and a MAX ULTIMATE Ad-free monthly subscription ($20.99/month), which is way too expensive. When is DirecTV going to finally negotiate the rights to sell the MAX ULTIMATE Ad-free subscription with their HBO MAX monthly subscription for a premium price above their current $14.99/month? I am ready to purchase this plan when DirecTV has the right to sell it.

@DIRECTVhelp I believe your suggestion of using a Gemini DirecTV streaming device to access 4K UHD HDR content still requires a separate ULTIIMATE Ad-free MAX subscription to access MAX 4K UHD content on a Gemini streaming box. I want to continue to use my HD DirecTV satellite receiver with an HBO MAX subscription to stream UHD 4K MAX content on my TV's MAX app. I have no need for a Gemini streaming box.

At this time, we offer the Max app version, which provides HD programming. We appreciate your suggestion and have shared this with our team to consider other Max packages. Mohammad, DIRECTV Community Specialist

HBO like some other content providers has their own streaming option completely separate from the TV provider. This way they can capitalize on customers who want additional service or content not available through the TV provider (DirecTV in this case) itself.
As such there is no deal between the two services.

@Juniper Yes, I understand that there is no deal between DirecTV and Max for DirecTV to sell an MAX ULTIMATE Ad-free package that includes HBO MAX HD TV satellite channels. This is why I made the suggestion that DirecTV programming executives negotiate a deal with MAX to be able to sell this package directly to their DirecTV satellite TV service customers. I hope they can negotiate this deal with MAX soon since I am willing to pay DirecTV $6.00 more per month to have this package.

My point was that Max like other content owners does not want a deal for those extra features on the TV providers. Instead they want people paying them directly for their exclusive content. That way the TV provider gets no cut at all and all goes to the content owner.
It is an issue as more and more content owners have their streaming-only apps, which makes it difficult for us consumers. Have to supplement our TV service, or subscribe to many different apps just for a little content on each. It is the type of TV era we are in right now as traditional satellite/cable TV and exclusive streaming apps are each fighting for their slice.
