Extending recorded shows to my computer

I have a satellite receiver/DVR that I has recorded programs. I would like to watch them on a device that is not wired to the DVR, such as my laptop (macBook) over wifi. Is this possible?

No. Once upon a time DirecTV had an app called DirecTV2PC, but that was discontinued long ago. You can only download recordings to a smartphone/tablet using the DirecTV App connected to the same network as your DVR.

Thank you. What about a device that extends the DVR to a 2nd monitor. Years ago, I recall I have a DVR/receiver in the main room of the house, then an extender of sorts, cabled off the main DVR to the basement. It was a physical cable, but those of us in the basement was able to get DVR recordings (at least that is what I remember)

Anything like that?

Hi @azcht9294, thanks for reaching out.

We can access to movies and shows online using your computer, by going to DIRECTV entertainment.
If it’s your first time streaming on a particular computer, it will prompt you to install the DIRECTV Player.

If we want to enjoy the content in additional screens we can always order a new receiver.

Let us if you'd like to review the options available on your account.

What DVR model do you have?

If you have a Genie DVR you can get a wireless mini Genie client box for your basement TV.
