NBCSN Blackout - NHL - Penguins Canadiens

I live in the Dallas Ft. Worth area.  Yesterday evening, and for no legitimate reason, the Penguins Canadiens NHL game, which began at 7:00pm CT was blacked out on NBCSN Channel 220.  My equipment, service address, and billing address are all the same and are located in the Dallas Texas area.  Blackouts apply when the game is being aired on a regional sports network, however since I live in the Dallas Texas area, there was no regional channel showing the game.  I have contacted both DirecTV technical support as well as NBC Sports support.  DirecTV support claimed it was the channels that control their own blackouts, but when I contacted the channel NBC Sports Support team, they blamed DirecTV and said I should speak to my TV provider, which I obviously already did multiple times.  I'm not looking for workarounds to the issue, since I'm looking for a reason and a resolution since this is a recurring issue.

I was not the only one affected. There were multiple people tweeting about the issue at the time. I have the Ultimate Package. My equipment, residence, billing address, and service address are all the same and are located in *****, which is Dallas market.  Why do you need access to my account for an issue that affected multiple people?  Was the game blacked out for the Dallas market or not?  And if so, why?

@Juniper  I live 1,220 miles away from Pittsburgh, so why are you are under the assumption that for this nationally broadcast game on NBC Sports (ch 220) that I was supposed to watch on a Pittsburgh-area regional station?  For the record, DirecTV Technical Support had me check both anyway, NBCSN (220) in addition to AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh (659) and BOTH gave a blackout message during the game. Plus, you do not have to be a subscriber to NHL Center Ice to watch a nationally broadcast game, but clearly that wasn’t the issue either as I do subscribe to that as well. Does this make sense?

@Juniper NHL blackouts have nothing to do with attendance. In addition, due to the pandemic fans are not allowed to attend. A signal refresh was performed during my conversation with DirecTV while the issue was occurring. It did not work. It’s interesting you say the league controls blackouts, because NHL TV support plus the channel, NBC Sports support, told me to contact my TV provider if a game was inaccessible or was incorrectly blacked out for my area.  The first step towards fixing this would have been to be in 100% agreement that the game should not have been blacked out for my area. That’s step one.  And I don’t think even that has been accomplished.

@Juniper I spent well over an hour on the phone with DirecTV technical support during the game, and also spoke with a supervisor. You can imagine how difficult it was to explain this to support agents who did not open a support ticket. They said there was nothing they could do and no higher supervisor available I could speak with. Dead end.  “There’s nothing more I can do” is not a valid answer to programming being blocked that I’m supposed to receive.

In the United States, all Stanley Cup® Playoffs and Stanley Cup® Final games will be broadly broadcast and are dependent upon power outages in NHL.TV™. On the off chance that a Stanley Cup® Playoffs game is communicated on your chose group's territorial games organize, it is additionally dependent upon power outages in NHL Premium™.
