TV Apps is still initializing; please try again later. (301)
I have had Direct for two weeks now and is still initializing? Why? The DVR says I am connected to the internet and I have reset the DVR and still initializing.

I have had this some problem for MONTHS!!!! I hope someone posts the answer. I have searched this forum, and called DTV....no help at all. Tech support lady had NO CLUE!

Menu-setup-system setup- info & test-Select more System info -Page Down to this part of the screen (see attachment)
In order for tvapps to work your screen should show this (NOTE) your ip address may be different (numbers because your local network is setup different) My D* boxes are using a static ip address (not related to apps issue) but to my network pref.
STB services port 27177, Status 5000,audio Services port27178--If any of this is different-it may be blocked by your local firewall-or router firewall or you may need to open those ports through your router (Port forwording) Check your Router info for that.
That is why you can not get much support because it has to do with "your LOcal Network and /or ISP everything has to be right on your end.
If after that -I would suggest a menu-setup-reset -reset your receiver.
then test your connection and then try the apps.

Again. The idea. And the ability to incorporate the offered application. Minus the facts is false marketing. The idea that someday it could be reality and functional.
