U-verse TV Equipment

I had a support person send a link wanting me to connect my smartphone to the link so they could access my camera to see my tv screen, to see what I was seeing, while it was booting up. Is this a normal thing or could they be scamming o get into my phone?

I’ve been having an issue since install. My uverse tv plays for about 20 seconds then freezes and loses connection. If I change the channel then it is fine for another 20 seconds.
