Code: 15-892

DVR shows "Diagnostic Code: 15-892".  It will not allow any reception even after numerous reboots and resets. Any idea what this code means and how to fix it?

That's a bad one.  Your hard drive is toast. Call DirecTV to request a replacement DVR.  It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan.  Otherwise ~$20 for shipping.

Not only do i have this code, but I have NO reception at all. Any idea on how to get reception?

Do you have other Receivers with no reception?  Please provide more details on that.  But as far as this DVR goes, it's toast until you get it replaced.

Only have the one HDDVR.  Would swaping out the hard drive help? What about hooking up an external HD?

It's leased, so your not supposed to swap the drive. An external eSATA drive might help. Why not just call and get the thing replaced?  Do you really want to keep a DVR with a dead drive?

Have been on terminal hold for 30 minutes. Just trying to get some NFL for the wife to watch. Thats why the question about the swaping the hard drive

There's currently a problem affecting many NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers, so you may be on hold for a while.  You can certainly try connecting an external eSATA drive to see if that helps.  You'll have to re-setup the DVR, though.

Thanks. I already saw the problems with the NFL sunday ticket.  will give the eSATA drive a try.
