D10 receiver - no power

This morning, my TV turned on as scheduled but just a plain white screen. That was when I noticed that there wasn't a power light illuminated on the D10. I tried using the remote to power the D10, but that didn't work, nor did using the button on the front, or trying a different AC outlet. Unplugging the D10 for about 30 seconds didn't work either.

Is there a fuse inside somewhere? I have a spare D10 I can swap in to use, if need be.

No, it looks like the D10 has died.  Swap it with the "spare" one and see if that powers up.

OK, the spare has been swapped in and I had it reauthorized. They wanted to charge me another $6/mo for it because they said I'd have 3 receivers, even though I'd told them the other one was dead. When I repeated that it was dead and be de-authorized, they did that. So, I'm back up running.  Now, is there anywhere I can see about getting the dead D10 fixed, or should I just toss it?

You won't find anyplace to fix it.  If DirecTV doesn't want it back, then have it recycled.

OK. They didn't want the other D10 back when I upgraded to an R22 several years ago, which is why I had a "spare". I was hoping this one could be fixed and become the "spare". I'll see if there is a way I can have it replaced; if not, out to e-waste it goes.

Edit.  I just sent them an email so we'll see what they say.

Yea just have it recycled, they're pretty cheap nowadays for new receivers. Just make sure they have deactivated that receiver on their system so you won't keep getting charged an extra $6 on your bill for a dead receiver.

Unless you are bound and determined to have a D10, if you have problems with the one you're currently using in the future, Directv will replace it with a current receiver model, likely for $20, the cost of shipping.

I don't care what the label says; I would just like to have the dead D10 replaced with another bottom-line standard receiver that I can have as a spare to use if one of my current receivers goes out. I figured since I had a D10, they would replace it with the same model. I don't expect (or want) an HD or DVR receiver. What is the current bottom-line model? D15?

My D-10 receiver did the same thing as above a couple days ago. I got this receiver in 2004. Am in the process of contacting Direct TV.

Note that Directv would only replace a receiver that was currently activated, they wouldn't replace a "spare".  Of course you could always "buy" one from the website.  I believe the going price is $69, with discounts sometimes available.

This receiver is currently activated and was in use until last Thursday. It is not a spare. I tried everything above and it is dead. Now why wouldn't Direct TV replace it for the 6.00 monthly rental fee which I have been paying on the one that went dead since 2004? 7 times 12 times 6.00, well over 500.00 dollars.

If it's active then call Directv and ask for a replacement.

Just got off the phone with DirecTV. A replacement receiver will be shipped out via FedEx. I asked if they needed to have either the dead receiver or the card returned, and they said "No". So once the replacement arrives, I'll take the dead receiver to an e-waste facility. Oh, they never specified what model receiver will be sent. I'll see what arrives and let you know.
