How do I watch programs recorded on my DVR?

I go to MENU and scroll down to RECORDINGS and choose "View Playlist." I scroll down to the recording I want to watch and it says "Please wait while your video buffers" or something similar. After I wait about 5 minutes it starts playing a slideshow of vacation destinations, national parks, botanical gardens, and so on. What I did today was let the slideshow run for 15 minutes and shut down. Turn everything back on and go through the routine to select the recording I want to watch, let it start buffering and shut down. Then turn everything back on and go through the routine to select the recording I want to watch and it starts immediately. So, what action do I need to take to get the recording to start without all the rigmarole?

buffering is slow internet speeds when playing recordings from on demand when you record make sure its recording from the channel and not on demand, i have this issue when i hit record all on a series it will record from the channels but picks up any  missed episodes from on demand which is annoying because you cant fast forward or rewind those episodes

So how can I tell if the recording is "on demand" instead of "the channel"? Do I have to disconnect DirecTV from the internet to force it to record from the channel?

Press LIST on your remote to bring up the list of what you had recorded.

On Demand is in the 1000s. i.e. SyFy is 244 and SyFy On Demand is 1244.

To make sure you only record from the channel, go into the guide and press record on the program (once for episode or twice for series). If you go into search instead it will record from satellite and On Demand.

Interesting. Now I know what fix. Is there is secret decoder ring available for purchase? It seems like one would be handy. Thanks.

That search function does need to be reprogrammed to ensure you only record from channels you have, and to toggle between On Demand or satellite channels only. Hopefully it is one of the improvements they have planned for the new interface.
