II am just before cancelling my account and seeking other services.
I received a replacement receiver but they sent wrong one. I'm going through a terrible time with you guys because I still have the old original receivers which no long works with your system. I do not wish to change and technician came and worked with me and got the old standard dvr's to work with the new cards. I have been on the phone a total of six to eight hours and still do not have my problem resolved. I am just before cancelling my account and seeking other services. You guys created the the problem when you decided to change and send all new cards which rendered all my receivers useless. I need one more R 22-100 receiver with new card and hdmi cord and that will fix my problem They sent me an old standard receiver which I already have 5 others just like it which will not work. What should I do with it and can you send me the R 22?

DTV sends the next available receiver there is no way to specify what model you will get. DTV is shutting down the SD MPEG2 channels so you have to upgrade to MPEG4 receivers or cancel DTV. Never heard of DTV requiring new access cards since SD receivers are now obsolete.

DirecTV is shutting down the MPEG-2/SD-only boxes. All of us customers are required to have MPEG-4 equipment going forward. SD-only TVs haven't been made in about a decade. So technology moves forward and so must we.
A specific model cannot be requested. It is next on the shelf. And R22 hasn't been available for years either being a very old model. It was a special hybrid model. Though it is MPEG-4 capable, there must be at least one box with model starting with H on the account. This model was for areas that got MPEG-4 locals years before the full conversion to MPEG-4.
So you cannot have an account with just R22s. One TV needs an H model no matter what now. A Genie (HR34, HR44, HR54) on 1 TV and R22s on all the others would be fine. Do NOT replace any true HDDVR or R22 with a Mini Genie Client or you lose capability.
If you still have TVs not working, then call DirecTV. This is a public forum of other customers so we cannot order new equipment or activating compatible ones on the account for you.
The MPEG swap does not require new access cards for existing boxes. If any boxes must be replaced, the new one has its own access cards. For R22s you keep, their access cards continue to work as normal. If someone tried replacing working access cards in existing boxes, that is a problem.

You should probably just upgrade. If all you have is R22 and lower, it’s free. Don’t be a dinosaur.
