RV Set Up

I bought the same slimline dish that I have at my house from the recommendation as the dish salesman due to the newest HD boxes I have...we set it up at my camp this past weekend and used the directions, satellite pointer, and could not get a read on the dish...Is there a simple way to fix this to make sure it works the next time at our camp?

Is it an SWM dish, and did you buy the power inerter (without it the dish will not work)??

i see a power inserter for like 14 bucks?  is that the correct one?  the salesman at this RV dish store said the package came with everything to make it work...well apparently not...So that is why its not picking up signal?  what does that do?

Note that with the H25 HD Receiver you MUST use a Single Wire Multiswitch dish.  That dish will have just one coax connector on the LNB assembly and requires a Power Inserter.

He has already stated that he bought the same type dish he has.  I am hoping that means what it says,  otherwise he really needs help.

yes there is a differance in dish's..  Also, if you got this dish from a rv store, you can bet that it is NOT like the one at home.

Look on the back of the reciever and give us the exact mdl of it, and confurm that you only have one coax into it.  also give us the exact typr on mdl of dish you got from the rv store, it will be on the box,  can you post a picture of the dish you have at home? Can you see if there is one or more cables comin from the home  dish?

When the cable(s) coming into the house, is there a device that is inline with the cable AND has a acpower cord and has a green lit on it?

Or is there one like it at your main reciever?

We need to know a much as we can to help.

You're not answering our questions.  Please provide the specific information requested.  We still don't know exactly what dish type you have.  Perhaps they're not actually identical?

I think you may be misunderstanding the questions that have been put to you.  The Directv HD Slimline Dish comes in four flavors.  First there is the SL3, which has a single LNB pod, and there is the SL5 which has three LNB pods.  More importantly, both models come in conventional (four coax connections) and SWM (one coax connection) models, see LNB assembly pics attached.

Now, here is the rub, and it's a major one.  The H25 will work ONLY with the SWM model dish, and that SWM dish must have a power inserter.  You CANNOT use the H25 or a power inserter with the conventional dish.
