Triple HD-DVR arrangement fails to correctly update shared playlists.

I have three HD-DVRs (1 HR20/700 and 2 HR24/500s) connected to my dish through a SP8WWB DirecTV SWM 8-way wide band splitter. All DVRs are connected to my home 1000BaseT LAN switch with CAT5 Ethernet cable. All 3 are enabled for multiroom which works fine most of the time except when they fail to update shared playlists (a recently recorded (last 48 hours) show fails to appear on the playlist of another DVR) or a DVR (usually an HR24) drops out of the group entirely. Rebooting the errant DVR restores the complete playlist or function but, of course, resets the incrementally loaded program guide.

Anyone hear of a pending update that might fix these problems? The HR20, surprisingly, seems the least susceptible of the three.

I doubt there will be an update to "fix" this because you're using an unsupported networking scheme.  The HR24's are really designed to network using their built-in DECA adapters for Whole Home DVR service.  You should consider letting DirecTV upgrade you, or buying two DECA adapters yourself .... one for the HR24 and one to bridge to your home network/internet.

I'm not sure what would be "unsupported" about this configuration as the DECA is just an Ethernet over coax adapter. It just provides Ethernet over the coax to be decoded by DECA units at the other receivers. If, as I am, you are already wired for Ethernet to each receiver there is no need for DECA. That and the fact my configuration mostly works just tells me (as a firmware engineer who has worked on other DirecTV  integrated receiver/decoders for Sony and Philips) that there is probably just a firmware failure to synchronize with the other receivers.

What other magic do you think DECA is providing?

This isn't subject to any meaningful debate.  Directv announced quite some time ago that if you wanted a supported version of Whole Home DVR you'd call then and they would install it.  They graciously allowed those that were networked via Cat5 cable to continue to use the system with the understanding that use would be unsupported.  Thus, waiting for a software update to fix your unsupported system is apt to be a long wait.  Are the unused ports on the 8 way splitter terminated with 75 ohm terminators?

This is a useless and uninformative comment. I don't what anyone considers a DirecTV "announcement" but there is scant information on their web site and dealing with their support group is an exercise in endurance (dealing with sing-song refrain about what great service they provide regardless of the reality).

I don't think, Darrell, you're an engineer or an employee of DirecTV and I would appreciate you keeping your uninformed opinions to yourself.

This is not Facebook and his useless advice belies your useless comment.
