Very disappointed
I am on a 4-5 month RV trip thri Alaska so I won't watch tv at home at all during this time. I tried to pause my Directv but was told that I couldn't because of my contract. I wanted to just pause intil I returned home and fully expectrd to extend the end of the contract period to complete the full 2 years. Now I am paying for service that I can't use
I won't be renewing at the end of my 2 years with Directv because I feel very "ripped off"

Agent was wrong. Your contract doesn't prevent you from suspending the service.
Must be at least 2 months since the account was activated before you could do your first suspension.
You can suspend for up to 6 months in a 12 month period.
Balance must be paid in full, or be enrolled in auto bill pay, for suspension to start.
Suspended months do not count towards the service agreement, so you contract freezes upon suspension and once back on it continues counting down again.
What is new since the AT&T acquisition, is that suspension is not completely free anymore. It is $7 a month as the account is not fully canceled (so accountability for equipment that is active and they own, monthly statements going out, information on account is available online, etc.). Still much cheaper than what a normal bill would cost of course.
