Want to disconnect service now that ESPN, Disney and ABC are gone.
Want to disconnect service now that ESPN, Disney and ABC are gone.
I am unable to get anyone on the phone or online to speak with directly about this. DirecTV has gone straight down the tubes and continues to hemorrhage customers every quarter to the tune of hundreds of thousands.
There are better services for MUCH less money.

How is DTV making money by not paying Disney their asking price to renew the contract? DTV will have to raise their price even more if they do.

This has to be the worst time start of football season you lost me as a customer . 20 dollars is like treating your customers like trash we know how much we pay you . Who came up with this amount keep your 20 bucks .

Yesterday I said I had ABC and today I don’t. Zipcode 40203.
This seems to happen every year.
And every year prices go up.
Not switching between I have heard Spectrum is just as back, if not worse.
I remember when Internet was $35, lol.
Now I pay $90.
The tech bros wanted faster speeds.
I never had any problems with the lower speeds but was forced to go along. It’s crazy.

They are still charging customers for services they aren't providing. that's how they are still making money. they aren't paying for the channels but still charging and offering a $20 credit what a joke.

They are still providing all the other channels via satellite and any money they save is put to paying for the increases plus what they have to give to Disney when they return. Since they don't have to give you any credit $20 is nice, if you don't like it then don't apply for it.

I wouldn't call this the "heel" as the last price adjustment was in November, so about a year ago. It is once a year. Normally in January but the last one was a couple months early. Those adjustments take into account negotiations that have already completed.
You can suspend your service, but you must call DirecTV to do so. Cannot suspend indefinitely, it is up to 9 months (used to be 6), any service agreement doesn't count down during the suspension (only active time counts for it) and there is a $5 monthly fee instead of your full normal bill. Or go to www.directvpromise.com and see about getting a courtesy credit including checking status of negotiation.

@QABDJTV
The forum moderators work for DirecTV. And of course they have an automated filter setup. If either removed your post then it stands to reason you posted something that violates the forum guidelines as they want to keep discussions reasonably polite.
I didn't see the post so cannot say with certainty, but since you joke about "feelings hurt" I suspect you were going overboard. Regardless of your opinion on the carriage negotiation between DirecTV and Disney, at least keep discussion mature.

Look at your bill and just the cost of your programming package. Then consider how many different channels it includes. Only a portion of them are Disney owned. So $20 is way more than Disney channels cost for a few days, or possibly even an entire month.
Just because they may be the most important channels for you doesn't change the fact they are only a portion of your bill. So monetarily $20 works in your favor. We hope that DirecTV and Disney get a new agreement before the time the channels were away actually exceeds the $20.
That is your compensation for what you say you are paying for but not getting. It is not proactive as they are not going to give it to everyone when not all care about sports or other Disney channels. Beyond that Terms of Service do state that programming/channels may change at any time so they are not obligated to give you any credit.

Cancel your service and go with another service like Fubo or Hulu. They charged my credit card yesterday and when I canceled my service today they would not refund me. They offered me $30 off next months bill if I kept the service. After I canceled I called my credit card company. They canceled my card, declined their charge and are sending me a new card. F Directv!!
If you went to a restaurant and they didn't bring out your drink or appetizer but you paid for it would you accept a credit on your bill the next time you went there?

As a "BRAND NEW CUSTOMER" of 2.5 weeks I would like to know WHY I should be CHARGESD for a fix (via downloading an application) to watch my local stations because a contract expired?
Your sales people should have advised that the contract was in talks and perhaps there would be interruption in coverage should the talks fall through. But NO, the only way that YOUR CUSTOMERS found out was to drop the network in the middle of the day without proper notification and put up a notice on the local network.
Since it was a holiday weekend I let this go until today and called (512-368-2380) to speak the the representative I originally talk with by the name of Daniel. I immediately went into VM and he called me right back and then after telling him how disappointed I was that this happened after only being a customer of 2.5 weeks he switched me over to another person and then that person switched me over to a tech by the name of Annabelle who immediately said "no problem, I am here to help you" Yes, some help I was told that the fix around this was to download an application and be charged for this application and to help for being understandable a $20.00 would be applied to my NEW 2.5 WEEK ACCOUNT however that would not show up until 2 billing cycles.
WHY should I be charge for an application to watch my local stations when that charge for local stations is ALREADY INCLUDED in my package that I signed up for 2.5 WEEKS AGO?????
I would appreciate, being a 2.5 week client, an explanation.

Is there a way to be notified via text or email when the Disney-DirecTV contract dispute is resolved? I'd like to avoid having to repeatedly check the DirecTV site for any news...
