DIRECTV dropping OANN?

How could you bow down to the WOK cancel culture demands to dropping OANN?  They do not lie!  The "big lie of the 2020 election" is absolutely true. There is mountains of evidence of the election steal. All the misinformation comes from liberals not conservatives!  My husband and I will be dropping Directv if you go thru this in April. I will convince all our friends and family to do likewise. This is an attack on freedom of speech and our country. Shame on you!!!!

Called DirecTv about OAN.They said OAN wanted too much money. That's a flat out lie. There wasn't even a negotiation with OAN. AT&T can't handle the truth about Biden.

Read the letter to the CEO of AT&T from Congress member, Anna G. Eshoo. It is found on her official website. Why is Congress getting involved?

Read main forum which they just closed as it had too many complaints and they could not handle it.

https://forums.directv.com/conversations/community-lounge/directv-dropping-oann/61e2fc1ff693d71b8f6f5cac?page=88

Customers have started to received emails and DIRECTV officially announced the reason is OAN spreads disinformation.  Well I think the owner of CNN and DIRECTV (AT&T) needs to looks themselves in the mirror before accusing a legitimate news source of spreading disinformation.

VIP502    Yep. You are absolutely right. The fees for OAN are SUBSTANTIALLY LESS than any other network. The Direct TV is bowing down to political pressure because they don't like what is being said.  Yet they keep cnn (so many (Edited per community guidelines)ual assault issues and worse, TWO well involved in the network production pedophiles who were grooming and paying for young girls aged around NINE YEARS old), and nbc who had brian williams who lied so many times like in a helicopter shot down etc, and authenticated hillary's fake story of running after landing during gun fire, .  And the continued lies of the steele dossier where the other networks just reported without verifying. Proved false. Yet the networks still propagandize it. Dropping OAN is NOT about BUSINESS or FEES. And doing so will costs them BUSINESS and their reputation.

Why would you remove OANN from your channel lineup? Please reconsider your decision.

Why would you drop one of the fastest growing cable news networks!  One America News is a straightforward, honest news network with integrity.

Why don't you get rid of CNN, one of the most dishonest networks with ratings that have been in the toilet for a long time!

Please feel free to let your AT&T bosses know that I will be looking for other alternatives for my internet, wireless as well as my TV service.

Or you can change your minds and tell AT&T to stop the virtue signaling.

I just read your email about changes in the programming. I am totally (Edited per community guidelines) off that you are removing OANN. It is one of the two news programs for conservatives. I guess that's why you are removing it. You are descriminating against conservatives. Y'all can KMA
I get my internet from att using dsl which is the only thing available. It is terrible and when I call to complain they tell me that att is no longer servicing the dsl service boxes because it is being phased out, yet I still pay full price for it. Just as soon as there is another option available, I will be so happy to leave all att services.

Being straggled by poor service and product is awful. I moved from a city that great service to where I am now. Had two choices, att was one. It had terrible buffering issues, and long wait times get any help or someone on the phone. Then the 'special "  ads for $200 debit card arrived AFTER the expiration date and was told basically "too bad". Then of course, the costs went up A LOT . So I am saving money dropping direct-tv soon. I will miss some shows but I will enjoy the $150 savings. If I move again I will definitely make sure what provider is available. If limited to att as a choice, Nope, not buying there.

I just would like to voice our opposition to OANN being dropped! We’ve been with AT&T and Directv for a very long time and this may be the last straw.
We need to begin fighting back before the censorship gets totally out of hand.

It would be nice if you could talk to someone has some power. Of coarse it is impossible. I am getting tired of DIRECTV making decisions of what I watch. If DIRECTV would give me that decision I would get rid of 90% of the channels I get. Everyone knows that you want a specific channel you always have to upgrade. OAN is a channel I enjoy. But it doesn’t matter they are taking it off because of politics.  One question DIRECTV do you even care about your subscribers?  If you would tell me it is because of low ratings then let me see ratings of all of your channels. I doubt you would do that.  Sorry to everyone that disagrees, thank you to everyone that agrees.

Regardless of the reason for the decision, it was DirecTV's to make. We as individual customers naturally do not have the option to speak to "someone in power" as it is not our place at the negotiating table between networks and the TV provider or to dictate what they are allowed to do.

Networks package those channels to the TV providers, resulting in that being the standard across the board. We as customers can pick the best fitting package and go from there. If you don't like any of the options then you seek elsewhere.

If you want OANN, you go with someone else. You want to have direct influence on the decision or see internal proprietary information, then you get a job with them. As customers we may have influence, but we do not own them.

Since they have been continuing ahead with their decision, apparently, they expect the closed accounts will be within acceptable losses. Time will tell if they calculated that correctly.

But if you want to shut down your account, then call them. Telling other forum users does nothing on your account.

We spoke with a very nice representative from the Retention/Loyalty Department. We explained our disappointment with DirecTV canceling OANN and said that is the reason we are cancelling our subscription to DirecTV. We are still customers until April 6. In our conversation we also stated that we really like DirecTV and hate to go but their decision to drop OANN is the deal breaker for us. Our service has been with DirecTV since Primestar, if anyone here remembers that.

I am looking for an alternative to DirecTv once they drop OAN.  It doesn't appear that Dish Network caries OAN either.  I am not familiar with systems like Fire Stick or ROKU but would certainly try if I can get OAN and still get Discovery, AHC, ID, SCI ....etc.  I don't watch the movie channels on DirecTv anyway but do want some of the other channels DirecTv offers such as the above-listed.  Any ideas?

Most satellite/cable providers do not have OANN. You can always check their website for their availability.

https://www.oann.com/wheretowatch/

You can find One America News Network on the national providers:
KlowdTV at www.KlowdTV.com
CenturyLink PRISM – 208 (SD) and 1208 (HD)
GCI – 64 (SD) and 703 (HD)
Verizon FiOS – 116 (SD) and 616 (HD)
Vidgo at www.Vidgo.com

@wpaint - try KlowdTV, the 2.50 per month option. They have OAN Plus at no charge, and actual OAN within the 2.50 per month option.

Juniper could've told you that, he knows all about it.

Incorrect. As I don't care if OANN stays or leaves, I have not bothered to compare pricing or how the specific in-depth options work. I simply looked up a list, provided by OANN themselves, on where they may be found as a courtesy. Those who truly want OANN will compare the pricing options for what feels right to them.

@wpaint - also, I dropped DirecTV over their decision to drop OAN. I'm saving a ton of money as well, I "cut the cord" and don't pay enormous fees to cable with two year contracts any more - I'm done with that. I'm now on a month-to-month with streaming services and loving it, I get KLOWDTV, FRNDLYTV, BRITBOX for the UK channels, and others. Loving it.  Also added a digital antenna for all the local news channels in high-def digital, including a slew of channels I never imagined were being broadcast where I live - in the DC / Baltimore metro area.  Saving money and loving life - and still watching OAN!

Removing One America News Network will make us go elsewhere for service. AT&T & Direct Tv are censoring conservatives and we would like to understand why? Paying high prices for TV which is not a necessity, so something must go.

Your question has been asked repeatedly since the dropping of OAN was announced months ago. Bottom line, you aren’t going to get an answer from Directv here other than what they’ve already published. Take your business elsewhere if you need to.

Yes I plan on moving from both AT&T & Direct TV. We have been a customer of both for well over 10 years & cannot support a hater of (Edited per community guidelines) organizations any longer. Same goes for Amazon (3rd party vendor), by local or use it to find the company & order directly from them.  Time to take a stand!

It's unfortunate, but it looks like DirecTV's decision to cancel OAN will not be reversed.

This is only a customer to customer forum and it has been my experience that no one from management comes here. You should call DirecTV's Loyalty Department 800-531-5000 to express your concern. They need to hear from you.
