# cindyrosemiller so are some of the channels you watch not on that package if not you might have to upgrade your package. I was paying spectrum 100.00 a month for a crappy 120 channels and no whole home dvr.. something else to consider. For me dtv comes out cheaper!!!

I was with dish, I was paying more but I was getting more channels and the equipment was far superior. I went with Direct because I was told I would be getting certain channels at a better price, but that is not the case. And I am going to cancel it and I am not going to pay 480 at lest not all I once. I will be glad to make payments to them at 10 a month. but that is all I can do.
I just feel it is wrong to miss lead people and then expect them to pay for it.

You where talking to a third party salesperson if you didn't order the the service online or by calling DTV and they are known to say anything to get their commission so your beef is with that company as DTV gave you the service based on the info that company sent them.

Having a valid card on file is a requirement of service with DirecTV. Any card used with them stays on file for lifetime and may be charged after disconnect if someone leaves an outstanding balance. So somebody had to provide card info at some point during the order process.

@ganto2014
To be clear, having a card on file is not the same thing as being on Auto Bill Pay.

trust me when I say they did not. I had been with dish for over 10 years and my husband does not know the card number or the account number, so no way he gave it to them and I just found out I did this through a 3rd party sales person and they never asked for a card.

Wait you ordered service form some guy who honked until you came out??? First of all, that was downright rude of them. Secondly, that was a 3rd party reseller as DirecTV does not have door-to-door people.
Never mind I don't accept offers from traveling salesman, but honking instead of knocking/ringing bell is a hard pass.
Though the ECF is still valid, I would verify with DirecTV what the 3rd party dealer the order was placed to. That is whom you talk to or file the BBB complaint on. That salesman's conduct was horrible and concerned where they got a valid card number to put on the order.

I will admit I was not very smart in doing the order with him, but I am not going to give my bank info to someone like that. I can guarantee that, I do not know how he by passed that but he did.

This is a public community forum. It is not the AT&T or DirecTV website, though they do own and moderate them but it is not official support.
My concern is that salesperson put someone else's card info on file. I would definitely be filing a complaint. All AT&T/DirecTV can do is follow the official order, not any additional false promises a 3rd party made.
Card on file doesn't have to be a debit card from your bank. Many people would use their credit card for regular monthly bills, paying it all off at once for convenience. An easy snapshot of the monthly expenses, without your bank info going out there.

No linked cards. Bet he had a number put in to complete the order and then later "removed" it. Except number stays in the system for lifetime, even if agents cannot see it listed. That's how people who tried to "dine and dash" not paying their final bill (for whatever reason) and were surprised when they were charged for it. And they couldn't understand why DirecTV wouldn't reverse the charge when it is in the terms of service.

I'm wondering what this guy gets out of this running this scam? Casing the house for a future robbery or stealing something while there?
