Getting tired of the audio popping- I'm about to dump Directv
Been dealing with this issue now for a couple of years... I have an HR34/700 receiver and I have a Bose sound system connected to the TV HDMI... I'm getting very aggravated with this issue and no one seems to have a fix... I can turn off Directv and connect to music and the sound is great... It's been 2 years... Does anyone have a fix or know how to get the popping out?

Replace the HR34 as it is to slow to run the software.

HR34's are the original Genie DVR. They're junk. Call DirecTV and tell them it's dead. Request an HR54 as a replacement.

The HR34 is the 1st generation Genie. Known for system slowness and overheating. Just didn't have the full hardware to support what it was capable of.
Call DirecTV to get a warranty replacement. You would get either the HR44 or HR54 depending on stock. Just $19.95 delivery, or covered if you are paying monthly for the optional equipment protection plan.
Do NOT "upgrade" as all 3 generations of Genie are "like for like" so is a warranty replacement. Also be caught up on recordings first as they will not transfer from the old box.
If you use an external wireless Cinema Connection Kit (CCK) for On Demand, you will need to disconnect it as the later generations have it built-in. Also the built-in one adds in support for 5Ghz, where the external accessory only had 2.4Ghz.
The new Genies use the updated GUI. And if it matters for you, Caller ID on TV is not built-in anymore as was dropped years ago.

OK... Got the HR54 replacement and it's been a couple of months now and I'm still getting popping noises out of my speakers. I'm using a Bose system and the popping is still come out of the woofer... I can put in a CD, DVD, etc, and no popping noises. Only when I'm watching Directv either on demand, recorded shows, or just about any channel... I believe I read that there is a fix somewhere and it has to do with the wifi/router interfering with Directv... Anybody have any ideas as to what might still be the problem?

Your replacement Genie (HR54) is connected directly to the TV, nothing in-between?
Connected to TV by HDMI?
Only DirecTV is experiencing the "popping" issue?
If your TV has HDMI-CEC I would turn that off (doesn't play well with DirecTV).
Make sure you are not connected to a "smart" power strip.
If you have one available, I would try another TV. Want to see if it might be an interaction just between these devices, or if the issue follows the DirecTV box. Another HDMI cord or even port on the TV as well to test. Some things to try to narrow down exactly where the issue is originating from.
But at least you got the HR34 swapped out. The later ones were better designed. Hope that was a warranty replacement being like-for-like, not an upgrade with a 24-month agreement, as advised earlier.
