Goes into sleep mode after inactivity

When watching certain shows recorded on DVR, Playback mode  prevents me from fast  forwarding thru commercials.  How do I get out of playback mode on my DVR?

I have an S10-S4 remote.  It won't enter Program Mode when I press and hold OK and MENU buttons.  How can I fix this?

My cable seems to have flipped to "Commercial Mode".   In this mode it does not allow me to view any cable channels.  I have never had this issue before.  Frankly, I had never heard of "Commercial Mode" before today.

I have an A30-RF1 remote that I want to switch to IR mode. According to the manual, you must first Press the AT&T and OK buttons for 1 second and all the mode buttons flash twice. This does not - none of the mode buttons flash twice.
