I have three LG OLED TV's (C1 and C2) that cannot get the DTV Stream software.  Are my TV's using Android so now I can get it?

LG's use WebOS not Andriod.

If you don't see google play store--then you don't have Android TV

This is good news.  I know some people that will like this news a lot.  Thanks for letting everyone know.

@Juniper - I don't really view it as foot stomping.  The service offered Android (mobile) and FireTV apps from the start (late 2016) - and that gets them 95% or more of the way to an Android TV app (obviously, since people have been pretty successfully sideloading the FireTV version on to Android TV devices for years).  They actually had an Android TV app mid-2017, but it was limited to a single vendor's TVs (LeEco) and was withdrawn when LeEco left the US market only a couple of months later.  So there was clearly no technical reasons for them to have not offered an Android TV app long ago.  This is unlike the situation with an LG (WebOS) version, which would be a new ground up app.

So basically the question is - why didn't the offer this years ago?  They (originally AT&T and now DirecTV) have never said, which isn't surprising - companies almost never explain these sorts of decisions.  But that doesn't mean that subscribers are wrong for asking.

I just want to point out that "demanding it as an entitlement" is another way of saying "footstompers." When I bought my Chromecast with Google TV when it first came out, it was advertised as compatible, and that's why I bought it. I had done my research, but the service was nowhere to be found. Plenty of people are in the same situation. DIRECTV STREAM (or whatever name it was using at the time) was saying via its forums that an app would be available shortly. I have been checking regularly ever since. Just the other day, the app showed up in Google TV for the first time. However, it will not install. Actually, I haven't confirmed this on the Chromecast with Google TV, but it won't install on my Sony TV, which is one of the newer ones with Google TV, not Android TV. Also, Google TV is a dedicated streaming device in the same way that Roku and Amazon's Fire Stick are (they are built into some TVs just as Google TV is). Needless frustration does lead to foot-stomping...

Actually, I was able to install the DIRECTV STREAM app on my Chromecast with Google TV, and it is working. I've read that Google TV and Android TV are two different things, but the full names of a lot of the apps on my Chromecast with Google TV end in "for Android TV," so now I have no idea what the difference is. Anyway, I'm thrilled that this is finally working. I have no reason to think it won't be working on my Sony TV soon, as well.

Understood--I didn't mean to be argumentative, just to point out that in a lot of cases people did their research, made their purchases and then had to wait a long time for the app to become available. Now to figure out how to get it working on the Sony...!

So, I assume this is not available for Android Smart TV's?

Did not see it in the google playstore.

It showed up when I searched for it on my Sony TV. At first it wouldn't install, but after a few days it finally did (I had sent feedback to Google telling them it wasn't working). It's working fine for me now. Good luck.

Like for Android, they aren't going to spell out specific Android TV/Google TV devices.  The assumption is that Android TV is Android TV.  For the most part, that is the case, but there are outliers where the Manufacturer of the device (or whoever did the port) isn't quite standard enough.  The same thing is seen with (mobile) Android - occasionally a device doesn't work.  What I don't know is if the entry in the Google Play store needs to (internally) spell out a device for an particular app to show up on that device.
