Livingroom invasion
I don't begrudge anyone choosing to watch Rupaul cross dressing disgusting TV -- but resent the fact Direct TV put a screen saver type add into my living room that I don't want my kids to see. How do I keep this garbage out of my living room? You are forcing me, (a long time Direct customer) to examine a DISH option.

Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

Since Rupaul is apparently in a variety of commercials, going to Dish or any other provider will not block the individual. You can use parental controls to set rating limits, block specific channels, or even adjust viewing hours, but there is no option to censor an individual you do not like.

RuPaul has partnered with Old Navy for their 2020 Holiday campaign so you might want to add them to your list of places to boycott (eyeroll).
And FYI: Rupaul is not a cross dresser. He's a drag queen. There's a difference.

Changing the "power saving" setting (dig through menu options) to "off" will change the delay on the screen saver from about 30 seconds to about 5 minutes (instead of turning it off entirely, as it should). If you want to turn off the screen saver entirely, you have to disconnect from the internet using your main receiver. I know that that's not a great solution because you may need the internet for some features that you use.
I have reported the ad and the incorrect functionality of the "power saver" setting to DirecTV. The agent understood the report and also said that many others have complained about the inappropriate ad. So, perhaps, DirecTV will actually do something about it.

The power saving mode has nothing to do with the screensaver mode. DTV has had the screensaver since it started and shows no signs of removing it.
