Streaming + Device & App

My DirecTV streaming box receives its signal via Wifi from my router. Everything has worked flawlessly from the beginning. I also use streaming apps for Prime Video, Discovery+ and Paramount+. I just switched from Satellite to Streaming service. With Satellite I was able to start a recording early, and extend it up to 3 hours. Now with Streaming I cannot do that simple thing? Over a year ago we had fiber optic Internet installed and at that time we switched to DirecTV streaming using Fire Sticks on 3 TVs throughout the house.
