How can I change the name on my account?

I need to change the name on my account to my daughter, but can't figure out how. I don't want to start another account as we can't let technicians into our house during the Covid-19 pandemic.

You can't change the name on the account you can only add your daughter as an authorized user. direcTV doesn't do transfer of responsibility.

You cannot change the account to your daughter as that is essentially fraud. DirecTV does not have a change of responsibility option. The account stays in your name, tied to your SSN, for lifetime. Even if you move, you don't start a new account as you move the existing one with you.

@Juniper Thanks for clarifying this, although fraud is willful deception for the purposes of personal gain and that is certainly not the case here.

That's why I said "essentially". Even if that is not yours, or the agent's intent, it is still not allowed.

Satellite being same service across the country is tied to the account owner. But hard line services can be tied to address with different levels of service available, or no service at all, so have change a responsibility options. And cell phones of course allow individual lines to be taken over as that is more tied to the user. So a difference of why some can have a change of responsibility but DirecTV does not.

The one exception if ever needed, is that if the account holder passes then the surviving legal spouse can take over the account.
