DVR Recordings become progressively choppy

My H21 (I think) DVR Recordings become progressively choppy whenever I try to view them, making it basically worthless for me to own pay for the service.  I have tried resetting it numerous time, to no avail.  The hard drive is only 5-8 percent full. Is there anything I can do?

FIXED! HR22 working again: What we did.

In addition to disconnecting all cables, we removed and reinserted the access card and left the unit disconnected for over 10 minutes. This was the second time we disconnected power to the unit and rebooted. Whether or not any of this had any effect, I cannot say, but the unit is working again.
